Let me ask you a question: What do you use your dining room table for?

Dining will certainly be among your top answers. But what about all the other “in-between” moments? Like parties, unexpected company, and working on science projects?

You wouldn’t think to buy a separate table specifically for these occasions, especially when 90 percent of the time, a small table is enough.

But why not invest in a table that can do it all? Extendable dining tables are perfect for anyone that wants to save space most of the time but still be prepared for life’s bigger moments.

Reasons why extendable dining tables are better than regular ones

1. You can adjust the size of the table to suit your needs

Whether you’re entertaining a large group or want the extra surface area for a family dinner, an extendable table can be easily adjusted to accommodate your guests.

2. They are more versatile than regular tables

With an extendable leaf, you can create different table configurations to suit your space and need. Whether you need a long rectangular table for a buffet setup or a smaller round table for intimate dining, an extendable table can be transformed to meet your needs.

3. They are sturdy and built to last

When properly cared for, extendable dining tables can become a cherished family heirloom that will be passed down for generations to come. Made from high-quality materials and construction, extendable tables are designed to withstand years of use.

4. They are a valuable investment

While they may have a higher upfront cost than regular tables, their longevity and versatility make them a wise investment that will pay off in the long run.

Different kinds of extendable tables and their unique benefits

Round tables

A round extendable table is a great option to create a more intimate and cosy dining experience. It’s also a good choice if you have limited space, as it can be easily extended when needed. The main benefit of this type of table is that it’s very easy to access all the glasses and plates around it.

Rectangular tables

A rectangular extendable table is a great option for larger families or entertaining guests. It provides plenty of space for everyone to sit comfortably and can easily extend when necessary. The main drawback of this type of table is that it can be quite cumbersome to move around, so ensure you have enough space in your dining room before opting for this type of table.

Drop-leaf table

A drop-leaf extendable dining table is a great option if you want more flexibility with your seating arrangements. This type of table has leaves that can be dropped down when not in use, saving space in your dining room.

Occasions that require an extendable dining table

There are a few occasions that require an extendable dining room table. Most notably, thanksgiving and Christmas dinner or any other large holiday gathering.

If you have a large family or plan on hosting friends for the holidays, an extendable table will give you the extra seating and surface area you need.

And let’s face it. Most of us don’t host parties or gathering even once a week. And that’s exactly why extendable dining tables are the best. Because they can be folded away for most of their days and simply open up when you need them. Saving you save in the meantime.

How extendable tables work – how to open and close

Most extendable dining tables have two parts: the main table top and an extension leaf (or leaves) that can be added on as needed. The extension leaf (or leaves) is usually stored underneath the main tabletop when not in use.

Start by pulling out the extension leaf (or leaves) from beneath the main table top to open the table. Once all the leaves are in place, secure them together by inserting the metal pins that provide the most extendable dining tables.

Now it’s time to add any additional chairs you’ll need for your guests.

To close the table, simply remove any chairs that are not in use and begin folding up the extension leaves. If your table has multiple leaves, you’ll need to remove them one at a time.

Once the leaves are folded up, secure them underneath the main table top using metal pins. That’s it – your extendable dining table is now closed and ready for storage!
