Electrical problems in the home are a common occurrence these days, and without a professional, you might be left to sort things out on your own. Luckily, there are ways to troubleshoot an electrical problem without calling an electrician. Today we’re going to talk about 10 important steps you can take to fix common home electrical problems!

#1 Electrical Outlet is Not Turning On

When your electrical outlet won’t turn on, the first thing you should do is check to make sure that it’s plugged into an active outlet. If the outlet appears to be plugged in and still doesn’t work, check the breaker box or fuse box for any signs of a problem. If you’ve encountered those problems, then you should contact a professional electrician from Surfers Paradise.

#2 One Socket Works and the Other Does Not

It is not uncommon for one socket to work while the other does not. This often occurs when you switch back and forth between two different types of plugs or cords, such as a 110 volt plug and an extension cord. A possible solution would be to turn off the power in the room, wait 10 seconds, then flip it back on again. If that doesn’t work, you may have to replace a fuse or outlet.

#3 My Switchboard Doesn’t Work

If your switchboard doesn’t work, you can use a simple trick to start it up. First, turn off every appliance in the room and unplug all the electronics like televisions, computers, and cell phones. Then plug in your lights to make sure they’re all on. Lastly, plug in your refrigerator. If this doesn’t fix the issue, try turning on just one light or appliance at a time until you find the one that is malfunctioning.

#4 Electrical Outlet Is Always On

If the power outlet is always on, it’s likely that there is a short circuit in the electrical box or there is no internet(if your electrical outlet functions on internet). One way to find out if this is the case is by plugging something else into the outlet. If the power outlet lights up and other items don’t, then you can be sure that there is a short circuit. In order to fix this problem, you will need to remove any splices or connections from the electrical box and tighten them back up with a connector tool.

#5 No Power to a Socket or a Light

If your lights are off, a socket is not powering on, or the TV isn’t working, check these simple troubleshooting steps:

– Check that the power cord is plugged into a working outlet

– Check that the circuit breaker or fuse is not tripped

– Switch on the circuit breaker or flip the switch on the wall

– Unplug sockets and plug them back in again

#6 There’s No Heat Coming from an Appliance

When an appliance stops working, the first step should always be to check the breaker panel. If it’s a fuse that has blown, you can easily replace it so the problem doesn’t persist. If that doesn’t fix the issue, your next step should be to check the power cord for

broken wires or loose connections. Once you’ve replaced those, there’s a good chance that the issue will be resolved and your appliance will no longer stop working.

#7 My Light Fixture Doesn’t Turn On

Just recently I noticed that my light fixture doesn’t turn on anymore. It’s been a few weeks since it stopped working. Fortunately, you can fix this problem right away. If you’re experiencing this issue, try the following steps:

1) First, check the light switch to make sure that it is in the “on” position.

2) Check to make sure there is no power going to the fixture; if so, you may need to change the fuses or circuit breaker panel.

3) Try turning your lights on and off again – if nothing happens after that, stop by an authorized service technician for further help!

#8 The Power Goes Out Sometimes

An uninterruptible power supply or UPS is a device used to provide temporary backup power when the electricity goes out. If your home has had any problems with the electricity, it would make sense to have a UPS installed. Sometimes it happens that an electronics device malfunctions and causes a power outage. A surge protector will prevent damage to these devices and other appliances.
